The Lake of My Beliefs

When I visited Umngot Lake, it felt like the world had paused. The water was so clear you could see the shadow of your thoughts floating beneath the boat. Locals call it one of the cleanest rivers in Asia, but my parents told me something else, that if you ask the lake for something with a pure heart, it finds a way to happen.

I wanted to believe that. I remember silently asking for things, a placement in the first month, more trips, more stories. Some came true, some did not. And somewhere between the stillness of that water and the noise of my own expectations, I realised maybe the magic doesn’t lie in asking, but in believing.

Maybe the lake doesn’t give you what you want, it gives you what you truly think you will get. What you know deep down
is already yours.
